Jewelry for Karwa
Chauth and the ideas
Also, this has been witnessed in the art of India since
ages. The sculptures of men and women covered in jewellery, literally from head
to toe are a common feature in Indian art. Indians do not have any demarcations
of men and women when it comes to jewellery. The ornaments may differ according
to the sex of the wearer but there is no limitation at the number to be worn by
either of the sexes. India is known to have the longest history of jewellery making
which goes back to the Indus valley civilisation. There is also mention of
jewellery making and wearing in the Vedic epics like Ramayana and Mahabharata.
If we go by the writings of the Greeks on ancient India, we will be surprised
to know that Indians held pearls at a higher esteem than the precious gems,
which were found in abundance in the area. Due to availability of resources,
like different metals and gems, India had a tradition of making various kinds
of jewellery since a long time. The financial prosperity due to trade in
ancient India also helped in the business as well as pleasure of making and
wearing jewellery. No doubt we have jewellery almost for every part of our
body. Husbands give gifts to their wife’s
on Karwa Chauth.
